First Responder

First aid and CPR skills for professional first responders or those wanting to become first responders. Course teaches techniques for sustaining life, preventing further injuries, and caring for illnesses and injuries until the next level of medical personnel arrives. Includes CPR level HCP and AED.

Professional Responder Leadership Courses

Course provides the knowledge and skills that are necessary in an emergency to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness for those functioning as a member of the health care team in a pre-hospital setting.

Course is for those providing a professional level of emergency response including firefighters, law-enforcement officers, and emergency medical services personnel. Includes CPR level HCP and AED. Meets the Paramedic Association of Canada National Occupational Competency Profiles for the practitioner level of emergency medical responder (EMR).

Emergency Medical Responder Training in Hamilton and Ontario

Oxygen Administration

This course teaches how to operate various oxygen devices as well as to respond and treat respiratory emergencies. The course is for those who are required to use oxygen in the workplace including lifeguards, emergency medical services (EMS) professionals, etc.

First Responder Recertification

Recertification

For recertification, standards remain the same with the following variation:

• Only 20 hours of teaching required

• Proof of current recognized First Responder certification (or as legislation dictates) required

• Participants are required to have a current Emergency Care Manual

Emergency Medical Responder Recertification

Recertification

For recertification, standards remain the same with the following variation:

• Only 40 hours of teaching required

• Proof of current recognized Emergency Medical Responder certification (or as legislation dictates) required

• Participants are required to have a current Emergency Care

First Responder to Emergency Medical Responder Upgrade

Pre-course Requirements:

  • Proof of current Red Cross First Responder certification required.
  • Completed Red Cross First Responder skills checklist
